Outsource to Thailand

Thailand is known as “Land of Smiles” (Yes, people do smile a lot in Thailand) and it is one of the world’s best vacation destinations due to its beaches, resorts, night life and etc. Less well known is that Thailand is also a popular outsourcing destination due to its low-cost quality labor force, well-established infrastructure and stable economy. According to A.T. Kearney, Thailand is rated 4th in its 2007 Global Services Location Index, behind India, China and Malaysia. This is a general rating of all types of outsourcing and the actual performance depends on the industry and the actual outsourcing company. Click Here for the Global Services Location Index article. Some Facts on Outsourcing to Asia
Both Malaysia and India have an advantage over Thailand in terms of English language skills, and both China and India have a bigger labor force over Thailand due to the 2 countries’ large population. The IT industry in Thailand is booming due to local and international demand and the Thai government’s various software promotion initiatives such as eGovernment, tax breaks and etc. Reuters, one of the largest global news service providers had noticed the potential of Thailand’s IT labor force and they currently have a software development center in Bangkok with around 700 people and expects to grow to 1000 people by the end of 2007.
Thailand has a very high quality skilled labor force compare to China, India and Malaysia. Here is a table that shows some data from 2006 with literacy rates and student admission rate in USA:
